It appears to be more of a PR move than logical. I do agree with torturing being prohibited and if you take that away there is nothing wrong with Guantanamo. It is prison plain and simple. One could further argue what went on there is not true torture anyway. Many precautions have been put in place to prevent torturing methods there since this controversy first arose. It is a functional and effective prison- what is the logic in shutting it down? Shut down the torturing and not the entire prison.

The concept is to send many Guantanamo prisoners back to their home countries to deal with. This is including those behind 9/11 that will be sent back to Saudi Arabia that now has a "prisoner rehab" program. Prisoners under go education and art therapy using crayons and fingerpainting to change their extermist mindsets and they are then set free. For some reason I can't see how Muslim extremists who want to destroy America can be set free after taking hardly more than art classes for a few months.

    Default its not torture!!!!!!!!

and if it was whats wrong with torture when it's being used on murderers.

I don't have a problem with what they were doing at all. sleep deprivation and making them stand naked is hardly torture.

I don't get what the big deal is either. That's like saying they should have shut down Columbine HS after the shootings. It's not the school that was the problem it was the student. Fix the problems and keep it open as a well run prison. Are we going to put any of the prisoners in the US mainland or will they all be returned to their home countries?

I agree to at least some degree with the comments above me. It's not the prison that's the problem, it's some of the policies they use there.
