About LinkBacksAccording to press reports California's budget crisis might force the Dept. of Corrections to release all non-violent - car thieves, check bouncers, other white collar - folks from jails/prisons without the usual probation related issues facing released criminals.
Accordingly this will save the state MILLIONS.
I guess Arnold is not the TERMINATOR anymore.

I heard talk of this the last few weeks, are they really going to go through with it? This is ridiculous. It may save the corrections department money but think of the money it will cost the economy in general when these thieves and con artists are back out. With how tough the job market is right now too you can be sure most of them wouldn't be able to get a legit job right now anyway, with more workers than there are jobs, would you choose a recent prisoner for the position if you were in charge or hiring? I don't think so. Not to mention the morals behind it in that they deserve to serve their sentence and not get a get-out-of-jail card for no reason.

More and more collection agencies will be established. Right now most collectors have a shady past anyway. Just add to the pile.

It's not just California doing this there are almost 20 states that are thinking of releasing inmates to trim state budgets. Bad idea all around if you ask me. The cons aren't dumb. They know that with lighter punishments for the crime theres now more reason to do them again

Oh great. This is just great.
What about the 3 strikes and you're out rule- 3 convicted crimes and you're in prison for 25 years. I take it that is going to override that law? That isn't entirely bad because that law was stupid. Someone could steal 3 packs of gum 3 different times and go away for 25 years. But most of the people under that law I'm sure did a lot worse of crimes than stealing a little pack of gum

The other solution they've discussed is selling off parks, airports, toll roads and bridges to private foreign countries. What do you think of that one? The junk we buy will be made overseas. The company you work at will be owned by foreigners. Then on that morning commute you will be paying your toll booth fee to foreigners. America is almost no longer its own country.

most countries have laws about foreign ownership in land and companies. we don't and look at what has happened.
