Default Trying to book travel on my SPG or PRG Amex - boss wont let me ....

    Hey guys,

Thought I'd bring this out. So we are travelling internationally and my boss won't let me book my flights on my PRG or my SPG amex. He has his own and I am assuming wants to amass the points to himself... I asked if I could pay for the hotel on my card and he again was like no. Is this common? Anyone face this at work yet?

Assuming you're traveling on company business:

If you're traveling on business and you have a company issued card, it normally wouldn't be an issue to use the card. If your boss wants to book the things himself, it might just be because it would be easier to handle all the paperwork for it and such (and it would be) and in which case, your company business cards would probably be for more emergency business-related things.

In relation to your commentary about the rewards: Personally, I see business credit cards as belonging to the business regardless of whose name is on the card. The business foots the bill = the business gets the rewards.

At least you'll get whatever miles and points the airline and hotel offer.

If your boss wants to put the charges on his own personal card -- and you're not working for a small biz/sole proprietorship, etc. -- then I think that's wrong. If you're at a corporate and he's doing that, there's something wrong. Good luck trying to change it, though.

Easier for him to write one check to his CC for all employee travel than write an extra check to you to reimburse you. Plus he gets spend points. His company, his policy, his money.
