Pre qualify for credit card offers without affecting score?

Postby 2tna2 » Mon May 13, 2013 7:35 pm

Question: Would it be possible to prequalify for a Visa credit card without affecting your credit score?

My last application for a Bank of America card was denied and I know that every time you apply there is a credit inquiries and having too many is bad for your score. I don't want to try for any more only to be turned down, I will feel like I wasted an inquiry for nothing. Are there any methods of checking if you're pre qualified before you formally submit your application?

Left hand side of the page. You can check here safely for BofA cards without taking a hard pull on your credit.

But remember I said they already denied me

EDIT: I clicked on that link to check again and you need to already have a Bank of America online account to use the pre qualified checker. I don't bank with them.

Even with a pre-approval there are no guarantees. I'm pre-approved for Amex according to CardMatch, but I'm blacklisted with Amex, so that preapproval isn't going to get me a card.

If you want a guarantee, it's just not going to happen. It does increase your odds, but nothing in life except death and taxes (both bad) is guaranteed.
