Freedom or Gold as an everyday card?

Postby VisaSpeak » Sat Mar 09, 2013 1:09 am

Any input? Or would both be a good idea as well?

Chase Freedom hands down in my opinion, especially if you can get the Visa signature version!

Amex BCE: 3% grocery, 2% gas
Bank of America Better Balance Rewards MC: $25/quarter bonus
Barclaycard Rewards Visa Signature: 2% gas, groceries, utilities
Capital One Quicksilver Visa Signature: 1.5% everything
Chase Freedom Visa Signature: 5% rotating
Citi Forward Visa: 5% restaurants/fastfood, movie theaters, amazon.com
Discover It: 5% rotating
SallieMae MC: 5% Groceries, Gas, Amazon
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature: 5% electronic stores, restaurants
Sock Drawered: Chase Sapphire, Chase Amazon

I absolutely concur. Bonus categories, dividends, and no annual fee? Freedom is a no brainer.

Chase Freedom by a mile.

 • It's a Visa, so it's accepted pretty much anywhere
 • Superior rewards program
 • NO $125 ANNUAL FEE
 • It has a credit limit, so you know how much you can spend at all times

American Express Blue Cash Preferred ($20K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K)
Barclaycard Sallie Mae Rewards ($15K)
Capital One Quicksilver ($15K)
Chase AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K)
Citi Double Cash ($15K)
Discover It ($11.5K)
FIA Card Services Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K)

+1 on the freedom. I love Amex cards, but freedom blows out the gold for everyday purchasing. Right now im using my CSP for everyday purchases and freedom is my gas card for the 5%. I should be getting my 40k bonus next statement period, my plan is to rack up a crap load of UR points and never look back.
AMEX Blue Cash: $23,500
CITI Doublecash (World MC): $6,600
CAPONE Quicksilver (VISA Signature): $12,500
CHASE Freedom (VISA Signature): $20,000
USAA Rewards (World MC): $13,500
USAA Rewards (VISA): $18,500

I have both cards and I would also recommend Chase Freedom.

Same boat here. Freedom 10+10, but using CSP for everything right now since I hit the cap on Freedom Q1 with gift cards. I should get my 40k bonus by the time my first statement posts. I've had it for a week and put over $900 through it so far.

Active Cards:
Chase Freedom 10+10 Visa Signature ($9k Limit - 8/2012)
Chase Sapphire Preferred ($10k Limit - 2/2013)
Chase Ink Plus ($7k Limit - 2/2013)
Discover IT ($9.5k Limit - 10/2012)
AMEX Zync (No Pre-set Limit - 1/2010)
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday ($20k Limit - 1/2013 - Backdate to 1/2010)
