I had recently applied for a visa and a citi credit card and was denied becasue I have no revolving credit accounts. 5 years ago i had about 4 credit cards with balances on all of them. I then got called to duty in the Middle East and not knowing if I would ever return to America I had paid off all my cards and called each card company to close the accounts. I am now back to normal everyday life with a lot of money saved. I had checked my credit score and it was less then expected (658). I was told because I had closed all my open accounts my score would go down. I had not used a credit card since 2004. My credit report said that all my accounts were (paid satisfactory) with no late pays, slow pays etc. I was however able to get a Amex green with no problem but need to have a card with a line of credit to help build my credit.
What should I do? |

I hear Chase is the most lenient out of the major nationwide credit card companies. However I think your best bet would be through a credit union. If you have a checking account through one they are more inclined to give issue you a card also from what I understand.
Check out Pentagon Federal credit union. Since you served in the military, you qualify to be a member. They offer excellent interest rates. |
