Reviews of Fifth Third Bank secured credit card?

Anybody know anything about the secured credit card from Fifth Third Bank? I have a savings account there & I might apply for 1....

I don't know anything about it, although I've seen a few of those 5/3 banks in my travels. I do not know why the bank is named 5/3, but I would not bank with them just for that reason and that reason alone.

The name came from the result of merging Fifth National Bank of Cincinnati and the Third National Bank of Cincinnati.

They held my mortgage for almost a year, and then sent it back to the little local bank that I originated it with. Never had any problems with them, but no experience with the cc side of things.

Well, that certainly is a reason. Not a good reason, but a reason! Out of interest, what is a "good" name for a bank, i.e. one that you would bank with?

There aren't many things that I refuse to utilize/purchase just for its name. But a few of them I can't stand, one if 5/3 Bank. Merger or not, what happened to First, Second, and Fourth bank of Cinnci?

I hate the words "hitherto".

"The late Clem Buenger, former chairman of Fifth Third Bank, used to say the name had been chosen because management feared ticking off the anti-alcohol crowd if the bank were named Third Fifth." :oP

If you don't have any credit history, then sure, apply at a smaller bank as your chance of approval may be higher. But if you have an established credit history, even if it's just a few months, then apply for a better card at a big bank.
