What is the difference between Visa and Visa Signature?

Postby bmw1990Z » Thu May 17, 2012 6:52 am

I was at the checkout line in Macy's the other day and noticed two people had different versions of the Freedom card. One was the regular Mastercard and the other was a Visa Signature.

What's the difference between the Visa, the Visa Signature, and the Mastercard versions?

Also, how do you select which version of the card you wish to apply for on the website?

There are a few perks one gets with a Visa Signature card. The minimum CL it can have is $5k and (at least on my BofA Cash Rewards card) the CL is not reported to the credit bureaus.

yes but specifically how would you get the visa signature version of the chase freedom card because I don't see where you apply for that on the website. Do they just issue you that version if you meet the qualifications?

They may not have an application for it so that they don't always have to give out $5k+ credit lines.

I think if your CL is over 5k, you get it automatically. Now if you started with CL under 5k and then got CLI to over 5K, you might not have VISA Signature. In that case, I think you can just call up and ask them to switch it to VISA signature.
