Default Seeking Those Unhappy With Newer Bank/Debit/Credit Fees

I am assisting a Wall Street Journal reporter with a piece she is doing about new bank and credit card fees.
    • Do you have outrage about new or upcoming fees?
    • Do you have questions about new fees?
    • Have you decided to ditch your credit card, debit card, or bank over a new fee?
She would love to talk to people who have recently gotten dinged with fees for asking (or would if they were to ask) for a paper statement, for closing an account, for making a wire transfer etc.

Please reply below and/or send a private message to discuss further. Looking to do this ASAP. Your help is hugely appreciated!!!

    Thanks,
    CCF

What about ALSO soliciting comments from those who have managed to avoid fees now and in the past by managing their accounts responsibly and opportunistically. Seems to me that would be more in line with the "fair and balanced" style espoused by the Murdoch "news" organization.

Edit: Sorry, CCG. Thought I was speaking directly to the WSJ.

I bank with BoA and had planned on canceling my account with them upon first charge for using my debit card. (They were planning on implementing a 5$ charge for any month that one uses their debit card) I hardly ever use my debit card, maybe once every 5 months. But I despise hidden fees and would rather pay more annually than have random stupid fees like that. Thankfully BoA decided to cancel this as I already had plans to switch banks.

As for thinks like wire transfer charges I have instead found myself using paypal to do these type of things more frequently.

I can also say I recently made a trip to NZ and a friend there uses a bank called westpac and she is completely fed up with this bank as they have so many random fees every month. For using your debit card too many times monthly in addition to a monthly charge.

Lastly questions I have about this - Really only curious to find out which bank has the least fees and the best rep.

Great ideas! I will be emailing both of you. My goal is for quotes from a couple members to make it into the article - i.e. "jeffysdad, a seasoned member of CreditCardForum who knows his stuff, recommends that..."

    Does anyone else have ideas/input?

I wrote a blog on this last year,in 2011, and then tweeted it to 9News, who then retweeted it. If you want the share it with the Wall Street Journal I'd be more than happy to give my two cents. Chase can laugh all they want to, but thousands of people read my blog and closed accounts because of it. The average consumer is no longer helpless!
