Thread: Credit Card With ITIN Number?

My wife doesn't have a SSN #. But she has a business and a ITIN number.. Is there anyway, she can apply for a credit card? Not a prepaid...

Legally No. That number was issued by IRS and not the SSA and cannot be in used in lieu of a SSN or for any other purposes but for TAX. I am not sure why she does not have an SSN but you might want to consider applying for one soon than later. If she is not a US resident / citizen, she can obtain one that is not valid for employment but i recommend you check with the SSA Office near you.

She might be able to get a business credit card but not a personal one.

Well she wasn't born here. Her family screwed over her citizenship. But I can get one for her now.

I have an ITIN my self. The only ones you can really apply for directly are the ones with security deposits from the major banks. You can also apply for an Amazon credit card because on the instructions it says you can use the ITIN.
