Question Hard pull credit inquiry for second card? (and other questions)

Advice needed: I called my credit union the other day and asked them to issue me a new card (DH and I are both on the account). this is an Amex card good for travel. I already have one of their MC. My credit score is high 700, similar for DH.

Today my DH received an offer from Chase for their Freedom card with $300 bonus just for sign up (only one purchase is needed to earn the bonus). DH does not have a job, is close to retirement but I earn a very good income.
    1. do you think there is a hard pull on his credit record for Amex? if yes, will it hurt to have 2 of them at the same time?
    2. do you think DH can apply for this Chase card, or there is no chance he will get it? this offer from Chase is a highly targeted offer from what i see on the internet, so they must think we are doing ok, but sent it for DH, not me, so I am confused.
    3. should I wait awhile and then DH can apply for Chase?
    4. Skip it all together? would be nice to get the $300 they offer.
any other point of view that I am missing? we don't need another CC but getting a few extra $$ is nice. Appreciate he help.

    thanks

    1. There likely is a hard pull. Will it hurt? Probably not too much unless you have more than 2 in a short period of time.

    2. They probably see joint accounts or joint household activity. If he has good credit he will probably get the card. If his income is low he might get a low limit though.

    3. Unless you are going to wait a couple of years then I don't think there is any reason to wait

    4. Take the $300 offer. If you are declined, so what.
