Default Using someone elses credit card?

When I use my mom's credit card to take my pet's to the vet, I always sign my name on the receipt. But when people use my grandma's credit card, they always sign her name. A few weeks ago at the grocery store a woman used her credit card and let her child sign the receipt.

So whose name should be signed, the person using it or the card holder's name? If I signed the card holder's name, wouldn't that be forgery?

Also, I only use my mom's credit card at places where I know the employees and they know me (like at the vet's). Does anyone think there would be a problem if I used my mom's credit card at a store, like Target or Kohl's? Sometimes they check I.D. and compare signatures. I don't want to be told that they won't accept someone elses credit card as that would be embarrassing.

BTW, I am over 18, but I don't have my own credit card as I don't have a job right now. I do have money, but I don't like to carry a lot of cash on me and I get flustered (anxiety) when paying by check so I don't use them.

I used to have "see Id" on my signature. However alot of places never asked and when they did it was a bother so now I don't do that. As for my signature I never do my real one and no one ever says anything. As for electronic signature at the grocery store I just scribble jibberish. Its a dumb system and my card and signature has never been rejected

At grocery stores, in the signature line, I have written random words like "tree" and "fish" and they never say anything. haha

Technically, you need your own signature on your card- no more, no less.

Should you sign or write 'See ID' on it

My roommate has also put random drawings at the signature screen portion, as well as signing celebrity names.

There was an instance when I was a cashier, and a lady literally drew a smiley face as a signature. It did not go through. Another good one was a straight horizontal line, and also did not go through.
