Default Amazon STORE card $30 promotion

On 11/6/11 I was making a purchase on Amazon.com and during checkout I was offered a $30 credit if I applied and was approved for the Amazon Store Card from GE Financial (Note, this is not the Amazon.com Rewards Card from Chase, which I already have).

The application was fast and approved instantly, making my order and two small subsequent orders "free."

This is the easiest and fastest 30 bucks I ever made from a CC offer. Note that once approved for Amazon Store, Amazon switches your default payment method to the new card. I didn't want this and manually changed my payment method back to Amazon Rewards during checkout (There's a box there to check to reset your defaults to the most recent payment selection).

Other that some interest-free payment options, the Amazon Store card doesn't offer much, so I'll continue to use my Chase Amazon card.
    CARDS (and why)
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (best cash back excepting 5% cards), Fidelity Visa (spare)
Chase: Freedom (only for 5% reward categories, purchases under $10), Sapphire (not in use), Amazon Rewards (for Amazon purchases only)
CapitalOne: No Hassle Rewards (no foreign transaction fee, my only MasterCard, not in use)
Amex: Blue Cash Everyday (not in use)
Discover: More (only for 5% reward categories)

    Default Amazon Store Card

What do you guys think about the Amazon store card? Is it worth it? What are the pros and cons of it? I'm interested in applying one so I wanted to get a review about it.

It's a horrible card. First of all you can only use in 1 place and I literally mean 1 place. So there has to be merchandise you would want.

I'm sure if you ask JeffysDad he will tell you that you get nothing out of this card.

At least with a Macy's card or JCPenney's etc. if you can't find a certain item in your local mall, you can go to your next nearest mall and in the stores you might be able to find what you're looking for.

What I'm trying to say is there can be 4 Macy's, 3 Lord & Taylors, 2 Talbots, but only 1 Amazon store and you can't even walk into one, plus you have to pay shipping.

I would say forget about this card.

Thanks for your suggestion, I was just curious about the card considering I frequently shop on Amazon. I was hoping there would be some significant benefit.

The interest-free payment options might be useful, its always nice to spend GE's money as long as it's for free. Are you keeping it? I wonder how often you can close the account and repeat the cycle.

I will have to check that out next time I shop over there.

I get that card in 12/2011 with a limit of $1400 and recently was increased to $1900, I like the 0% financing feature because I wanted a 3D tv and was short some money and I was able to get it with the card, plus I have prime so I get my shipments pretty fast
