Thread: Do you need an AMEX history to get Blue Cash?

This might be a silly question ...

Currently, I have a Discover More card. The cash back bonuses are fine, but lack when you consider the cap on the 5% categories and the $3,000k needed just to get basic 1%. From the front, the Blue Cash card looks like a much superior card given the 3%, 2% and 1% it offers.

I don't carry a balance, so APR isn't really an issue.

My question ...

Do you need previous AMEX history in order to qualify for the Blue Cash card? I've received offers from AMEX for their Gold Card, but I've held off given the annual fee that kicks in during year #2. I'd like to eventually get Blue Cash, but don't know if I need a Green card or some other AMEX card to my name before attempting for it.

Would appreciate any insight.
