Default Got 2 offers in the mail, which should I choose?

Hi! i got 2 selected mail application from capital 1 and American Express green charge card. i just immigrated in January 2010 and just started out with a capital 1 secured credit card in January and in may i applied a secured credit card from my bank, Wells Fargo.

In august, i applied for a Walmart store credit card and got approved for a 1,000 limit. i applied for several cards after my capital one approval but got denials. so right now, getting 2 offers in the mail, I'm a lil confused. capital one offered me a rewards card while American Express selected me to apply for their green charge card.

I've been on time with my monthly payments, always paid in full amount. now I'm confused if i should add another credit card. i want an unsecured one. i called capital one and asked if my secured card can be upgraded but they said it will remain as secured forever. what should i do... go for the mail offers i got? should i go for amex? or capital one?

first of all I will assume you have a capital1 card secured credit card. they said you can't upgrade. not including walmart assuming you only have 1 card. I would get a different card , yeh try out the American express card.

I would say go for the cap one card which will be accepted at more places than Amex, check out the rewards and fees for both.

i have the capital one secured and a wells fargo secured... capital one wont upgrade me from a secured one to unsecured.. booo! they said a secured will always be secured forever.. arghhh!

with amex, im being offered the green one.. with me just having 10 months credit history and a score of 684 experian.. what is my chance of being approve?

capital one is offering me a new card hat has rewards... but i dont want another mastercard again.i dont wanna cancel my secured with them coz it will lower down my score if i close any account right?

im debating if i should accept the pre-selected mails.. i want one with rewards..

I agree with you DON'T cancel any cards it will lower your credit rating. I also agree with David capital1 is accepted in more places than American express. However that would be small merchants like bagel shops, pizza places you could run into any places that don't take American express.

Now when I first applied for an American express card around the late 80's I got turned down. I ended up getting a first fidelity visa. I then again tried applying for the gold card I got turned down. it wasn't until last October that I got the green card so with your 684 score, what do I think of your chances are. I'm going to call for you and ask.

I certainly understand you don't want 2 mastercards.

Just called they said you would have to actually apply. I did mention to them that you have a 684. the account mgr said you would have to fill out the application, that's the only way they can tell whether you qualify.

If you're this hesitant, you probably don't need an extra credit card. Skip both offers
