Default Amazon.com and its card partners

I just noticed on the Amazon website a display ad saying Discover is giving "double cashback bonus" for Amazon purchases.

We all know that the Amazon-branded Visa card is offered by Chase and that Amazon recently allowed Amex Membership Rewards users to pay with points.

My point is, I wonder how long it will be before a current or future card partner of Amazon insists on some level of exclusivity, or maybe this will never happen. To me it seems like an airline offering rewards cards from both Citi and CapitalOne, for instance.
    CARDS (and why)
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (best cash back excepting 5% cards), Fidelity Visa (spare)
Chase: Freedom (only for 5% reward categories, purchases under $10), Sapphire (not in use), Amazon Rewards (for Amazon purchases only)
CapitalOne: No Hassle Rewards (no foreign transaction fee, my only MasterCard, not in use)
Amex: Blue Cash Everyday (not in use)
Discover: More (only for 5% reward categories)

I can see what you mean but given Amazon's clout, I think they will ultimately be able to pull off whatever they please, whether Chase likes it or not.

Speaking of Amazon, did you receive the postcard in the mail offering 1,500 points bonus for spending $750 between now and Dec 31st?
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

    Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Citi Thank You Premier

Nope, didn't get that promotion, but I've been using the card for Amz purchases. I need to put it away and play hard-to-get.

Actually, got a card from Chase/Amz in the mail just now offering 5,000 points for spending $2,500 between now and end of year. However, that's still only 2%, which I get all the time from Fidelity Amex.

But this should be in addition to the standard 3pts per $. I'd do all the math but I don't have one of these. Is it a straight point conversion of 5000 for $50?
