    Default Question about signup bonuses

So ever since it was announced that Chase's Sony Card would be moved to Capital One, Chase has been spamming me with offers for their Freedom Card as well as their Slate Card seeing as the only card I use that I have with them is going away. I've been tempted before with the Freedom Card offers because they have been offering a $200 signup bonus, but today I just received a new offer, this time for $300. The bonus is the only reason I would apply, I currently have 7 cards (4 actively used) and as for the 5% bonus categories, most of the categories that I make purchases in overlap with Discover More's 5% bonus categories, which I already have. So the question I'm finally getting to is, will I get the bonus? I was reading the fine print and it said it was for "first-time cardmembers with new accounts." So does that mean since I currently have two cards with Chase I will be ineligible? Or is it specifically referring to Freedom Card accounts?

Usually the "first time cardmember" means for that particular card. Since you don't have the Chase Freedom you should qualify. However with cards that have different tiers like the Sapphire and Sapphire Preferred, having either will count and disqualify you for a bonus on the other as jeffysdad recently discovered.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

    Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Citi Thank You Premier

Scratch that. NOw that I think it over that was for 2 checking accounts I opened. A debit card came with each and that's why I was recalling them as credit card bonuses. This was 12 or 13 years ago.
