Default Credit cards for unemployed people?

Are unsecured credit cards for unemployed people possible to get? If you were applying under your own income only and that was unemployment insurance pay will that get your credit card application approved?

Then what if the application was done under total household income but for the applicant's occupation "unemployed" was written. Will that be likely to get approved if the household income is at a high enough level?

This is certainly a grey area and I think the answer varies by issuer. Check to see what their definition is for household income. You may even wish to describe your situation on the phone to them and be upfront about it. They will either tell you it's not allowed or yes, you can include income from others in your household.
