My credit cards are paid off...now what?

Postby DebtFree24 » Fri Dec 17, 2010 3:46 pm

I want to continue to lower my score as I'm on the verge of 700 for my FICO score, but my credit cards are paid off. My scored shot up dramatically because of this, but what else can I do to get my score higher, other then, continuing to make on time payments?

Please Help!!

There's all kinds of things you can do. :D

I know my credit score went up after I got an installment loan (for my car) because before that all I had was revolving credit. Make sure you have both credit cards and at least one installment loan. What are all the lines of credit you got right now?

The installment loan is a good point. When the Fico formula was revised a few years back, I think 2008, that became a much more important component. Before that it was possible to get a high score with only revolving credit but now it seems an installment loan or loans are needed to do that.
