Thread: Do all GE Money Bank credit cards suck?!

The only card that I have had that was backed by GE Money, that I had a problem with was a Amazon card. I had a Sony Card backed by GE, but they closed it as soon as the 0% interest period ended. Guess they didn't like me buying a $1,500 TV, and paying no interest!

I have had nothing but trouble with this company.

I fell on hard times about a year ago and had a hard time making my payments to them. I kept in contact with them monthly letting them know what I could pay and all that jazz.

Well I call in about 3 weeks ago and they say my account has been sold to a collection agency...so I contact the agency so I can get this all resolved as I got my taxes back and can pay everything off and not have to deal with this anymore. Ok sounds good right? WRONG!

The customer service rep I talked to that told me my account had been sold, also wouldn't give me ANY information on when my account had been sold or exactly how much I owed. So for the last 3 weeks I have been calling the agency he told me bought it and guess what......THEY DIDNT BUY MY ACCOUNT!

So i call the card issuer back and it sends me straight to GE collections. Hmmm...wouldn't it have been easier to just tell me that, rather then make me waste my time and money trying to figure this out...this company is not worth the name they have.

From my personal experience i would highly recommend staying away from this company, they have NO customer service and as previously stated they are in the business to make money, not take care of the people they are "helping".

I (and my dad) have both had bad experiences with GE.

My payment of $25 was due on 1/28. Being a responsible individual wanted to make sure my payment was early and I paid $30 on 1/4 (which by the way I do with all my credit cards). I was charged a late fee of $25. I emailed them saying I paid it early, they apologized and refunded the money, and I was happy.

A week or two later I tried to buy a kindle book and my card was declined. I sent an email and they said that my balance includes a late payment, so they froze my credit card until I pay it and would not approve any charges.

I sent another email, but did not want to wait to long, so I called as well. The lady in India informed me that they did refund my late fee (which to me would mean I did not have a late payment) and told me they did not receive a payment. I said they did I'm looking at my online account where it says completed and they took it out of my account.

She said that it was made on 1/4 instead of 1/5 or after, so it's late. I said "so basically I'm being penalized for making a payment early." She got really quiet for a minute and then apologized and gave me some BS.

I told her I wanted my card cancelled, I don't want to use it, I don't want any GE credit, and would be paying my small balance off next week as soon as I get paid. From what I understand they are charging me a fee to cancel.

I said I just want to be done with GE Money Bank ASAP, so cancel ASAP. This is an amazon card and I'll be canceling my Old Navy card tomorrow. I have been shopping at Amazon for years and sadly this has severely altered my opinion of both companies. After this incident i googled GE Money and found these complaints as well as many others. I wish I had looked it up before I got the card. It's just so confusing and upsetting. I've shopped Amazon for years and have had discover, mastercard, visa, bill me later, and bank of america cards and I have never had the problems I had with GE.
