Default Denied Capital One credit card?

I was recently sent an email by Capital One for a Venture One card that said thanks for being a Capital One customer blah blah blah, we'd like to offer you this card, so apply now! I decided to apply for it and was summarily rejected. My question is, is it normal to be sent offers and then be rejected upon applying? The whole thing seems strange to me. Thanks for any replies as they are greatly appreciated.

Is just a pre-screened offer. If you read the Disclaimer at the bottom of the offer, it tells you that approval is not guaranteed.
You are going to get a letter in the mail, it will tell you the specific reasons why they didn't approve you, now you have something to work on!

Pre-approved offers don't mean you have been approved (kind of a scam really)

You said you already have a Capital One card though? Kinda weird you would be denied for that card but not one of their others.

Default Whats up with Capital One?

Capital One refuses to issue me any Credit Card.... Makes little sense as I am an Amex Gold Holder, have a Visa Signature from Citi Bank with a 20K Limit, and a Chase Freedom Signature with a 22K Limit. Both over 4 years old. Also a BOA Card I have had since I was 18 with a 12K limit that I never use (Started out as $500, they keep raising it, I keep it open for the Age).

Tried to get a Venture Card and was denied... Waited 30 Days and tried again... Denied.... Letter stated that my fico score was to low... ~800... Have a fully paid car Loan and a 2/3 year paid loan on my report. Not a single hit for a bad payment and less than 15% of my credit is utilized.... Also make a very comfortable income.... I guess they don't want a good customer... Anybody else have this problem?

many years ago I was sent in the mail pre-approved credit card applications, the short form from companies in the boon docks back in the mid 90's. I got turned down. I probably filled out 2 applications a month. most like in kansas, these banks were I'm sure there all gone by now. then 1 day I filled out a First card visa gold application and in 1995 I was finally approved.

I don't remember the names of the banks but it was around the time when they started to get rid of annual fees.
