Default Closed Credit Account Statement?

I'm currently disputing an account close date with my former credit card company.

Unfortunately, I lost the letter that said they closed the account in 2003, however, I have a statement from 2004.

This statement shows the balance I owed and lists a "0 credit limit". Additionally, an overlimit fee is listed as "Refunded"

I'm certain this account was closed, but does this statement reflect the same?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Which credit card company is this with? Do you have the statement they mailed you or an e-statement that was printed from your computer?

Did you close it at the end of 03??! Because the billing statement might have gone to Jan 04 if you did.

Why are you disputing the close date anyway?

Default Closed Credit Card Account Statement?

Thanks for the replies.

I have the mailed statement from Discover showing availible credit as "0". This account was closed as part of a credit counseling agreement in May of 2003.

I'm disputing the close datea, because Discover Card has choosen to report late payments, until to 2007 when the account was actually paid off. So instead of this dropping off my credit in May, they want to report it until 2014

I believe that since the statement from 2004 shows availible credit as 0 and overlimit fees as refunded, this proves my account was closed.

Not sure if this is the case or not. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has simliar experience.

Thanks

Closing the account is different than settling the balance. If the amount remained unsettled and unpaid until 2007 then it sounds as if that date is correct.

I think fffresh is right, unless there's more to it.
