Barclaycard Arrival Plusâ„¢ World Elite MasterCard Anyone?

Postby Robrus1 » Mon May 19, 2014 12:48 pm

Do any of you have this card or plan on getting it? I've read what info is available and decided to give it a shot. Approved for 5K. Never dealt with Barclays before. Anybody have any insight?

Well Barclay's themselves asked me to give feedback on my recent customer "service" experience with them, so, I posted about it in the Visa/MasterCard section. To sum up they remind me of Capital One with the "service" I received from them. Not at all impressed especially on a card with an annual fee. (Though granted Cap One's lower end cards have annual fees too).

Had the card for 6 months and spent heavily on it at first not so much lately (have been feeding Discover and Amex but have come to realize that's futile). I was going to start giving them some more spend but after that experience, I would likely close it if I hadn't just gotten pre-approval on a mortgage. Now I hesitate to make changes until I'm closed just to avoid grief.

Started with 10k and that's what it is now so no CLI but then again no AA either despite opening new cards.

Good to know, thanks. I haven't applied for any cards in over a year so I decided to go ahead since it seemed like a good sign up bonus and 2X points on everything seems like a pretty awesome deal. Also I am missing a MC in my lineup, so this will fill the void, and a world elite MC at that. Hopefully I won't have to call their CS anytime soon. From the best I understand it, you cannot transfer "miles" to airlines or anything, they are only to be redeemed for cash back/statement credit, but with 10% miles back when you redeem for travel coded purchases. Do I understand that correctly?

My Cap One card is on the chopping block. Cancelling it asap.

I'm not sure I think that is how it works. If you do it for statement credit it's only 1% so you really do want to use it for travel, as you know.

The card is fine, I just was totally unimpressed with my own experience with them. Good luck with yours I hope you get approved for a nice limit.

Just a normal statement credit towards your balance would only be 1%. But you can apply your miles to specific travel purchases. When you do that, you get 10% of the miles back. This shows you how it basically works:

Thanks for posting this. It works about the way I thought it did, which is different, but I like it. If travel through sites like Priceline qualifies for the 10% miles back, that will be pretty awesome. Also, this card will cover all spending I do where I would normally get 1 point per dollar. Now I just need to figure out if these points earned at 2x are technically worth as much as Starpoints earned at 1x. I do love Starpoints, but this MC will cover places that don't accept AmEx, along with my CSP, which is just usually limited to dining.
