Sales Guy at a Dealership -21 with a PRG-

Postby nismoZtuner » Thu Apr 10, 2014 2:26 pm

okay,

So about 30 minutes ago I left a dealership where my brother (19 y/o) bought his New (used) car after having an accident last week where some drunk guy got in his way totaling his 300zx.

My brother doesn't really have much credit history so his APR was a 9.9%.
I tell the guy "isn't that kind of high??" he replies by saying "no for his age that is actually really good" I`m like "that's kind of funny because I know some guy who isn't really legal here and had a better APR.."(his APR was 6.9%)" (I didn't want to get much into my brothers business so I was just there to see-I had told him to shop around but nope he wanted the car from there...)

--I think I got the sales dude sort of nervous because when he was moving the other cars he backed into one of their other cars! then my brother took out his(hahah- nothing really happened to the cars but wow)

After trying out the card we came back to the office-Well the guy started talking with me while doing paperwork and he asked me if I have bought a car from a dealership before and I told him that I haven't and I don't plan to this year.

-He was like "your mom told me you care about credit a lot- you should get a car from us it will help your credit".
-I`m like "Naahh I think I`m good with the cards I have"
-Sales Guy- "cards don`t really help your credit".
-ME- "I`m good besides I have an American Express card which was my must get card since I was kid"
-He then asks me "REALLY?? what is your limit on that card $500 or may be $1000" (guy was trying to be the top dog).
-So I`m like "It doesn't really have a limit"
-He`s like "what do you mean it doesn`t have a limit??"
**Takes take out my PRG and places it on the table**
......................his face went from happy to jaw dropping  .

He then changes his tone from arrogant to friendly saying "wow at your age with that card its hard to believe- how did they even give you that card? I mean its good for your age but how" I`m like "I`m not sure I applied for it and FedEx brought it to me 2 days later" ;)

Hes like "hahahahha wow, I tried applying for it twice now and they denied me- and they give it to you"

Then he asked me what other card I have and I guess he really got impressed when I showed all pure premium cards..

Well since I added my brother to my CSP as an authorized user he gave a good down payment with that card (more points for me!!:cool :) .

I really enjoyed reading this buddy! ;)
It's always nice when you can make someone else's jaw drop.
I can't really say that happens to me because I live in London. And I would say they are "kinda" used to see Centurions many times a day. So my PRG doesn't exactly hit them. But I'm proud of it anyway!

My mom- I don't know, I try to educate my family with credit -since my parents are afraid of anything that deals with credit (I don't really want to follow their steps- they're too closed up- if you know what I mean), they think credit is bad and I see they are passing it down to my brothers. I guess my mom is finally understanding and noticing that credit is not bad..

Hopefully I made sense- there was way more to the conversation but I felt I was typing too much that people usually skip long threads...

I love when cocky people get stuffed like that. Nice job OP. I've had a few of those "tone changers" when using 'my' Centurion (AU) card. It's funny how different you get treated when you pay with certain cards.

Good show.

I hate car salesmen... no offence to those who may be in that industry. Granted there are good ones but most I have dealt with are losers.
