$250 each for gas and groceries per month is enough for a single guy! I can't wait to start swiping.

This is an extremely nice card. The only card I can think of that gives more cash back on gas is the Chase Freedom 6 months out of the year if you deposit your rewards into a chase checking account so that you get an extra 10% payout in Jan or Feb, making for a grand total of 5.5% cash back on gas. Speaking of which, Chase is offering $200 deposited into a checking account if you open a Chase total checking account, deposit $100+ into the account within the first 10 days, and begin direct deposit to the account within 60 days. The account fees are also easily avoidable.
Whats's in the wallet: Discover It - $3,800 (5% rotating, ShopDiscover), Sallie Mae Rewards MC - $1,000 (5% on gas, groceries, and Amazon), Chase Freedom Visa - $1,200 (5% rotating + 10% extra w/ Chase Total Checking), PayPal Extras MC (1.66% on PayPal, 2.5% on Restaurants- $3,000, Bank of America Cash Rewards Visa Signature - $5,000 (Signature benefits), PNC CashBuilder Visa - $1,000 (Don't use), Fidelity Investment Rewards Amex - $5,000 (2% on everything)

. . . and some store credit/charge cards.

Future cards:

-US Bank Cash+ (for the 5% categories)
-1-2 0% APR cards for some big purchases I'll be making within the year

FYI Amazon now offers 5% cash back automatically credited to your statement on everything on their store card. For large purchase items it offers extended terms with 0% interest.

guitarlifter wrote:... What I can confirm, however, is that you can buy electronic gift cards from Amazon, get the 5% back, send them to yourself, and buy whatever you want from Amazon. I do this all the time. This will also allow you to build up enough gift cards to your amazon account to buy more than $750 some months if you don't hit that limit each month...

1) Why does it have to be an electronic gift card?
2) All purchases from Amazon will give you 5%? Or books only? (and maybe gift cards?)

Note the dates in this thread. Guitarlifter was last active 4/19/14.

Most but not all Amazon purchases will qualify. I can't comment on the gift cards.
