Pop up irritation

Does anyone else find it irritating as hell when you go online to make your payment, and they are dropping a blocking popup on you the instant you go in which prevents you from doing anything asking if you want to chat (with a script reading foreigner who has no clue but that's another story) and you HAVE to click "no, thanks" (I'd love to replace that text with two other words) to get out of it?

Who the hell thought that was something we'd want? (Citi cough cough). I find it REALLY annoying. It's one thing to have a popup you can just ignore that goes away, and it's another to launch that monster and block people from doing anything else unless they click out of it. How about just assuming I'm not as big a moron as the sort you hire (even though I'm dumb enough to be your customer) and letting me do what I wanted to do? Is that a novel enough concept for those dumbass overpaid execs to chew on?

It annoys me enough Citi that I'm going to give you fewer swipes. You see this is a competition and basically the lender who irritates me the least gets the most business. You lose.

I agree. In addition to the CS Chat the satisfaction survey is really annoying as well; whenever one pops up I want to take the survey and complain about the survey popping up. I have better things to do with my time though, like surf forums :ppp

I don't get that popup when paying for my Citi card... but they probably make a decent chunk doing that to their customers. Some misclick, some actually click because they are interested, but the majority at least confirm they saw it by clicking the X. As long as there's no major correlation they can find between that practice and revenue, they may keep doing it. :( But it does bring them that extra revenue...
