Authorized user credit reporting question

Postby jumbo » Thu Apr 03, 2014 10:49 am

I have added my brother as a authorized user on my Discover, AMEX, and CapitalOne. I recently checked my credit report and I saw that TU and EquiFax are reporting my name on the credit report as MY NAME or MY BROTHERS NAME

And I recently joined CK, and I was getting error saying that the information is not matching, so I used my BROTHERS NAME with my ssn to verify account at CK and it got verified.

Further, I checked my report from TU and EquiFax, I am listed as Authorized User (A), instead of Individual User (I) in the Type of account field on the credit report in the Discover and CapitalOne section. So does this mean, Discover and CO are reporting wrong information..!

Should I be worried, and how do I rectify this?
Any suggestion is helpful.
Thanks.

I wonder how this works as well. I added my brother on my CSP for the 5k bonus. I was only asked for a name but no AU SSN. Im not even going to show my brother the card..

It sounds like it. I would contact those companies as they should be able to get that corrected. Don't let the script reading braindead CSRs from Cap One tell you that you have to take it up with the credit bureau either.

An AU's name shouldn't appear on your reports as your name. The account should show up on the AU's reports.

I'm assuming you did this all in the same month. Will hurt his score for 3 new accounts all at once?
