Any list of cards you've been eyeing but haven't decided on getting?

Postby linuxmachine » Thu Mar 27, 2014 11:36 am

Thought maybe there's cards out there worth looking into that I hasn't caught my attention. Currently I'm on the fence for the following...

Personal
Amex Everyday Preferred (To replace the PRG + BCP)
Chase Hyatt (Plat status + free nights)
Barclaycard Arrival World MC (2% flat rate)
Hawaiian Airlines WEMC by Barclaycard (just for WE status)

For business... (which is a 'when' and not an 'if')
Amex business gold (2x on cloud computing expenses... Amazon here I come!)
Chase Ink Plus (for all other business expenses)

Probably won't bite on the Arrival or the Hawaiian WEMC. Waiting on Amex to see if they will up the ante on their charge cards in terms of benefits before I drop everything and get either of the everyday preferred cards.

What are you guys looking at? :)

Amex BCP for me. Right now, I'm not sure it's worth it, because a lot of the everyday shopping gets done at Walmart or Target rather than somewhere that counts as a "grocery store" to Amex.

I have nothing at all on my personal radar. I have all the cards I wan and certainly more than I need. (My sig doesn't yet list the new Amex Everyday Preferred, will wait till I get it).

I might struggle to manage all of these. I don't want more to juggle.

Never say never, can't guarantee I won't find something that appeals, but I can say as long as I'm still going for a mortgage in a few months it won't be for a while, and there is nothing else I want right now.

Curious... that chase signature visa you have, did you receive it as a signature card? I got my freedom from a long time ago, and never bothered asking for the signature version. wondering if i can ask for the bump, or if you can only get it via application.

And btw, I notice you got 4 cards since January, heck, 6 in the past 5 months! someone's been busy on the app train ;)

7 - I got the OCCU Duck card but just closed that when I heard about what they were doing. I decided that despite the nice 15k limit, dealing with liars and fools like them isn't worth it even if they weren't going to close it.

So I've been busier yet.

And yes they started it out as Signature I would think you could ask.

Just picked up an AMEX BCP last month, figured I'd pull the trigger and replace the near useless Clear/Phantom card. Gonna hold on to the Clear for sentimental reasons, though it's not near the cult card that the Unicorn is!

Other than that, like Member, I've got all the cards I could need/want. They all serve a purpose and now that I'm nearing retirement, I'm giving more serious thought to paring the cards down a bit, getting rid of some that have served a purpose at one time, but don't now.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
EQ = 846 EX=828 TU = 836 as of 02/2016

Not really looking at anything at the moment. 2013 was the year for building up my wallet. The two 5% rotators that I added near the end of that year were already "maybe" cards for me.

You can. Doesn't mean they will but people have been bumped to the Signature tier.

Probably the AmEx BCP (I have the Everyday at the moment). Dunno if I want to add another card with an AF. I currently have 2
cards with AFs- CSP & Hawaiian Airlines.
In my wallet:
AmEx PRG/ BoH Hawaiian Airlines WEMC / Chase Freedom /

In my sock drawer:
AmEx HHonors & BCE
