Postal Mail

Postby dblbj » Sat Feb 22, 2014 6:47 pm

I am just curious to know if there is an "opt out" of receiving postal mail from a credit card company that I do carry a card with a balance with. I just would like to NOT receive postal mail from this company. I pay my bill and receive messages online. Thanks.

You can opt in/opt out of receiving ANY mail solicitations if you want. Go to and you can do so. However, I think that will opt you out of ALL prescreens. If you just want to not get prescreens from one company, just give them a call; they should be able to stop sending you offers based on your request.

Companies you do business with are generally exempted from rules that limit solicitations or allow you to opt out. First things first, look at their privacy statement. It should have a category for "solicitations from us and our related companies" and say whether or not you can opt out of them. If they say you can, give them a call and note that. If not, you can still call and ask, but you won't have this bit of ammo. If you'd really rather get everything by email, tell them that and see what they can do. Personally I find spammy email more annoying than spammy mail (out of mailbox into recycle bin), but to each their own.

What these guys said is how it is. Good advice.

Me, I can't remember the last mailed offer I got. I think it was last April for FNBO Amex. I can't recall one since. So needless to say I don't get many invites. But I have all the cards I need (more than I need) and I can't do anything right now if I want to go for a mortgage in a few months so it's just as well.
