From everything I've personally seen as well as the accounts of approvals I've read this is an excellent time to be in the market for credit cards.
After the crash a few years back lenders were tightening up and in some cases slashing limits and closing accounts. And while I would not say the economy around here is great (it's kind of bad actually) eventually the lenders realized they needed new business to grow revenue. After all you'll never get on Wall Street's good side being hunkered down in disaster mode all the time.
So if you've been working on your credit or thinking of adding a card, now is the best time in quite some time. My personal experience can be seen below as far as recent approvals, but that doesn't yet include Discover or Bank of America (when I get the cards and details I will update signature). I have not been told "no" since I asked for a CLI on my CSP last October, and as far as being told "no" to an application I have not been told no since last May when I applied for a US Bank Travel card (they declined me for using a PO Box as my address, but in hindsight I'm glad I didn't get that card anyway as it prompted me to app for CSP). I'm not sayig you will equal these results (though you may well exceed them) just that now is a great time to be looking for a card as they have loosened up as much as I've seen in a few years.
