Help with New Cards

Postby MP3 » Wed Jan 29, 2014 5:23 pm

I currently have the Amex BCE and Discover IT cards. I'm looking for 1-2 more. I've narrowed it down to Chase Freedom, Chase CSP, BOA Rewards, Barclays Arrival, Barclays Rewards. I also have the PNC Points card I use for work, but may be looking to swap that out since it seems to be a very hated card. ha.

My credit score was 755 when I received my IT card a few weeks ago!

Thanks!

Freedom and Sallie Mae MasterCard from Barclays. CSP is useless if you don't travel.
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

How does the Sally Mae card differ from the arrival and rewards cards Bayclays has? I know the Arrival is for Travel and Rewards is for points and cash back...?

Also, what about the BOA rewards and Capone Quicksilver?

It's a great looking card, that's for sure.

Are you on Fico?

I have to agree with Leth that CSP is for travelers. Even if you dine out a lot, the points are most valuable either used for travel with the UR discount or transferred to airline or hotel rewards for lower cost redemption. It *is* a cool-looking card, but beauty is only skin deep. The interest rate is not the best in the market, especially for folks with good credit, for example (my UMP has a lower interest rate).
CSP $19K
BOA $4K
UMP $11.5K
Target Visa $1.5K

I don't travel much. I'd like something that is best for cash back/rewards/travel. I have a Capital One Platinum but don't really like the service so may stay away from the Quicksilver. Would Arrival or CSP best fit what I'm looking for with cash/rewards/travel?

What are your thoughts on the BOA Rewards, Barclay Rewards?

I am on FICO but I'm banned for life. Reason was I made a comedy of a conversation with a Cap One representative and mentioned the Indian accent. For that I was labeled a "rascist" and banned for life.

But I can still read them and I live to read the "gardening" threads.

Well, you need to provide more info on what kind of rewards you want to earn and your most frequent spend categories. Sounds like you're most interested in cash back. I recommend the Chase Freedom. (See my sig).
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).
