Gardening

Postby CrazyCatLady14 » Sun Jan 26, 2014 1:14 pm

OK so on this site I keep reading about "gardening" but have yet to see anyone actually explain what that is.

Can someone please explain it?

Thanks.

Basically it means to not apply for new credit for a period of time. On the MyFICO site they go on and on about doing this, so we are kind of making fun of that as they take it to a lifestyle extreme over there where it's almost kind of a cult.

But it just means you aren't applying for credit for a while typically in the hopes of boosting your scores and possibly limits so that later on you can get other better cards. It's really for people rebuilding their credit once you are established you don't have to be a lunatic about it but you'll probably have fewer inquiries just because you've got most of the cards you really wanted already. That's the case with me as my recent inquiries aren't that many despite having a few new cards as I pretty much have what I want, and I'm planning to go for a mortgage later this year so I don't want to use any inquiries that I really don't need to right now.

OP: There's no article on wikipedia about the myfico gardening sect, but here's a few articles of similar organizations:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonestown
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heaven%27s_Gate_(religious_group)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brethren_(Jim_Roberts_group)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Solar_Temple

As you can see, these groups are dangerous... at one time, Member was vehemently opposed to the gardening cult, but I fear he has been brainwashed, drugged, and/or held against his will by their evil leader 09Lexie who will not stop until every US citizen is "in the garden."

Modern society is so complex. Join us, and embrace our way of life. Then you too can have every Comenity card using the Shopping Cart Trick with a nice 100 dollar limit and be happily rebuilding credit for 10 years, and proudly bear your seedling as your avatar like I do here. With enough time in our garden, the pot smoke seeps into you and you don't care anymore and then you've achieved Nirvana.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.

I'm so glad this thread was revived - let's talk about the importance of gardening, and when you do decide the time is right to apply, God forbid, safe app'ing.

First of all, you will totally destroy your credit for eternity with that application. You will be branded (literally if they catch you) a terrorist, and tortured for this crime against all of FICO, for security purposes. You will bring shame upon yourself and your family by this horrible act.

If you are determined to do this, even though you know it's terrible and wrong and a greater act of evil than genocide, then make sure you don't drink before app'ing.

So, we know what gardening is now. What pray tell is the app'in prosess and how to best do it. Is it done over a month, week or day? Or is it a all out, one hour free for all trying to hey cards before something crazy happens. Like all the inquires landing at a specific time and such?
