There are two types of questions I find annoying

Postby MemberSince99 » Sun Jan 26, 2014 9:10 am

I love helping people that's why I'm personally here. However I find two questions people ask a bit annoying.

First is "Will I get approved for card ABC?" Dude, do I look like the psychic hotline? How the hell would I know? You might as well ask me what will the high temperature be in Paris next month. There are simply way too many unknowns to have a clue all anyone can do is GUESS. If you want the card - apply for it. If you are approved, great, if not read the letter that comes to learn why not and what you need to do to get approved for it. Simple, it's not the Calculus III final exam. You don't need to put together a huge spreadsheet and spend days analyzing the living hell out of every detail of it like you are trying to send a mission to Mars.

The second thing is when people compare cards for the bennies and want you to do all the research and legwork for them and repeatedly ask the same basic questions hoping someone will spare them having to do any actual work.
Dude, this isn't the company you work for where you are a highly overpaid, underworked executive who can demand his underlings cater to his every desire, this is a free internet board and we don't work for you or get paid to be your personal credit slave. Get off your ass and do some of the legwork and make an informed decision based on your own knowledge for a change. Who knows you might learn something and feel some sense of accomplishment while you're at it.

We probably all have at some time. I don't mind the initial questions but when people answer and then they go off on a deeper tangent despite people suggesting links of info to check out wanting you to post a Ph.D style dissertation on the subject, that's when I say screw it, if you can't be bothered to lift a finger, why the hell should I?

Like many of us, credit is my hobby and I spend a good amount of time on multiple related forums. I've found that in most cases, when people are asking these sorts of questions, they're not really looking for an honest answer. They're looking for somebody to tell them that yes, they should pull the trigger.

I think they do this partially because they lack the nerve to make the call themselves, and partially so that they have somebody to blame if it doesn't work out so well. On the FICO forums however, it's often a cry for attention as they are secretly hoping the emergency response gardeners will come out of the woodwork and fawn over them.
Ficos:
