Got screwed with 6 hard pulls on one single day while shopping for a Car loan.
Pretty much have all the good cards between me and my wife and I Plan to be in the garden till Aug-Sep 2014.

Have plans to buy a house.

I'm in the same boat as you - the dealer hit me with 6 hard pulls on TU I had NO idea they were going to do that - had I known I would not have allowed it. I told them that from now on, they will not be pulling my credit and I will arrange the financing myself, I'm not willing to take a massive bunch of hits like that (and yes I know they are supposed to code them as one for scoring purposes it still doesn't look good though). So I was not happy and I'd like to point out to people this hasn't happened to yet to NOT allow the dealer to pull your credit, they don't care if you get a billion inquiries on your report it's no skin off their nose. Get your financing ahead of time take one hard pull and REFUSE to allow them to pull your credit. If they balk, walk out the door and go to their competition right down the road. That's the way that game works. You're holding the money and thus the power in the transaction, despite their best efforts to control you.

I'm also looking to buy a house. So I'm in the garden for about the same period as you are.

I've had an account with basically US Bank since 2011, and I've opened a hell of a lot of new accounts since then, and no AA against me at all. In fact they auto CLI'd me. (US Bank is Elan which handles the cards for Associated Bank but I also had a Cash + card).

I had around 40% utilization when I applied for the Cash+ and I still got a $6.5K initial CL. Granted, they only approved me for the Cash Rewards, so I guess they paid more attention to my payment history than my utilization. As for Amex, they'll SP the hell out of you for the next few months, but other than that they won't do anything unless there's a spike in your utilization.
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

Amex always SP's the hell out of me in any case. Even when I don't have one of their cards, it's a good twice a month like clockwork. I guess they really do consider you a "member for life".

For those of you who are curious about the actual FICO spades here is the list of them:

Less than 1 month - seedling
1 month - bronze spade
3 months - silver spade
6 months - gold spade
9 months - palladium spade
12 months - platinum spade
15 months - ruby spade
18 months - emerald spade
21 months - sapphire spade
24 months or more - diamond spade

I noticed they have Palladium but seem to have forgotten Titanium and worst of all Centurion spade.

And by the way I have NO clue what the ruby spade on up looks like - I've never seen one there. I've only seen a couple of platinums they are rare, and even Gold isn't all that common - most of them are sporting seedlings while talking about all the gardening they are doing. Yeah if you are such a garden master why do you have a seedling in your signature - just saying.

It is the meaning of life, that contented blissful state where you are doing something other than working hard for no personal reward but enriching your boss. It's nirvana, a state of being we all long to achieve.

Ok seriously it just means you aren't applying for new credit for a period of time. It's a term used on the FICO forum, that we mostly mock here. For all their talk of how they are gardening, mostly what you see is seedlings (meaning they just applied for something) so that's why we also mock them for the hypocrites they are.

That's quite the garden you are growing there! :) Now it just needs some weed if you're going to hang with the FICO'ers :)
