Am I actually reading this? Member escaping from the "Garden"? LOL, congrats! 7k is a good limit especially from one stingy lender like Chase. I love Chase, and they can be generous but they are stingy. Congrats on the Freedom! In addition to SPG, Freedom is my favorite card.

Thanks Snowman! I've wondered how you've been I hope you are well?

Yeah 09Lexie is going to paddle me for sure, ERT was called but did not arrive in time. My new favorite expression is "Dude, garden!" if you say it like Jeff Spicoli it's even funnier!

It is a nice card. And it pairs well with the CSP. I just wish they still had the 10/10/10 thing with a checking account as I moved that to Chase but I'm out of luck there. Still, should be a great match with the CSP.

No problem Member, I'm alive and doing well. I'm going to a wedding on Saturday (weddings depress me as I'm single again...and a couple friends of mine that are older then I am have recently gotten hitched..but w/e. I think I'll be single forever lol.) I recently got turned down for the Chase Marriott Premier (everything was okay...Income is too low..so no apps until Christmas of next year, don't need more card tbh.) But beyond that..I can't complain. I'm doing my best to get myself in shape and staying out of trouble as well as hoping the state starts hiring again so I can become a Trooper/Highway Patrol Officer one day...hopefully soon enough How about you? everything somewhat okay on your end?

LOL on the Paddle and on Jeff Spicoli!

How do you like Chase? I have a secondary bank account with them (Bonus... raises..birthday money goes in here.) It does, you've had it before and it is a good card. I just wish Chase wasn't as stingy as they are or else I'd gladly spend more on their card. Congrats to you again.

Glad you are doing well that's great! I know about being single I'm in the same boat. But just remember - the only thing worse than being single is wishing you were. I speak from experience!

I'm sorry they turned you down for that. You would think if Amex approves you knowing how they are about income, Chase would be fine. Did you try to recon it? It might be just talking with the right analyst. Or was it a maximum exposure thing?

I'm hanging in there. Looking to buy a home this year. I know it's not the greatest time for that, but if we wait for the "perfect" moment in life to do things we'll be waiting all our lives. Sometimes you just gotta do it.

Chase is a mixed bag. They do have some nice cards no doubt. Not really nuts about having to take two hard pulls for a card or a CLI. You'd think once you have a banking relationship and they are softing you one would do it. But given that I burned them, I can't complain a bit about what they've given me. They do seem to be heading in the unfortunate direction of foreign reps though - when I called on the Freedom card that's who I spoke with. In general I have not had good experiences with foreign reps they just are not usually very well trained and knowledgeable and trying to understand them and them understanding me is a real chore. But hey, Amex is the "premier" lender and they do the same thing.

I'm giving Chase time, I really have no overall issues with them. I do hope they lose the foreign reps but it probably won't happen that's pretty much here to stay whether we like it or not.

Otherwise it's all good!

I hope you are soon able to get the job you are looking for. I think once you get in, you should be good for life!

I reject the notion that AMEX is the "premier" lender as I find their cards and rewards system to be generally inferior. The Chase Visa Signatures also offer as good or better buyer protection programs. Price protection? Yea, only Chase has that.

Actually, citi and Barclays also have it.
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).

Was talking about in comparison with AMEX.... and AMEX is NOT the "premier" lender.

Yeah thankfully compared to last year. LOL, haha I hear you. It's been a while though and sometimes I feel rather lonely, especially when I have friends that are couples...that's when it hits (the loneliness part.) lol, but you never know, I may find the right lady for me one day.

Right? I didn't Amex would approve my SPG because of my income (15k, and inquiries @6, but they were almost six months old already). But they did. I reconned twice, and both times they said everything was good (I have 10 INQ's on EX, AAOA was fine, Util was okay at 11% on one card and overall 2%). Just income was too low. I asked if they had a platinum version as I had seen people on other forums get approved for it with lower limits but he told me that the Marriott Premier starts at 5k typically and he asked if there was anything else he could do? I was going to ask for a CLI (but I declined since I don't need another HP. I don't need to app until Christmas of next year anyway so I'm good.) It could have been a Max exposure thing as well based on my current income and history as they have me at 6k with them total. In the future though, I think I'll be able to get more as my income rises.

Ahh, that's good. Are you planning to stay in Wisconsin or move somewhere? I hear you, just go out and do it, but beware as you know that a home is (for a lack of a better term...a money pit...lol.) But I'm glad you are thinking about it and I hope you'll enjoy it.

I'm not either. They are pull happy though and for some reason everyone likes to pull EX here. I too have a banking relationship with them and they can obviously see the amounts I've run on my cards...and they would grant me a CLI. No dice. Yeah I'm not fond of their CS, but as I am Indian/Pakistani, I can talk to them in our language and they generally understand. Chase recon is good and I used them once when I applied almost a couple years ago (got denied, but they were understanding..but had to stick to their policy, for which I can't blame them.) Amex too.

I hope so too. I was talking to a recruiter at my job fair at school. She told me 5,000 had applied and by the end of the journey there are typically 4-500 that graduate and make it out on to the road...so It's going to be a challenge but I'm confident I can make it...I just hate interviews though..they kinda scare me. But I like their benefits and what they do as an organization so that's why. I could always try for the Sheriff's Department...but I' don't like that type of work (I'd rather be driving all day as opposed to be dealing with dog barking and other stuff lol.) Yup, It's really tough but I think I'll be able to do it. If I don't at least there will be no regrets that I didn't try.
