Visa Signature Concierge

Postby sj632 » Sun Dec 08, 2013 4:37 pm

So I decided to test it out. I have friends who booked a trip to the Caribbean so I gave them the details to see what they could do (availability and prices) compared to what my friends got.

So I got 3 emails in total. The first is the acknowledgment, the next saying it would take 24 hours. Then the final time I get this:

"Thank you for your request. Before we proceed I would like to clarify whether or not you were looking for a package deal as in, flight and accommodations together? The reason I ask this is because we do not assist in packages. How ever, we would be more then happy to assist in booking a hotel and flight separately for you."

I will try to travel assistance via the CSP and see what they say.

I have to say for the first time using it I am very disappointed.

You know in the end, all they can really do is what you could do using Google yourself. That's probably what they use.

I know and I just wanted to see how they compared to my research skills. The whole point is using them so I can free up my time to do other activities. I am disappointed that it took them 24 hours to see if I wanted to book separate and if not that they couldn't do it. They should have asked me that when they asked me to confirm the hotel in the 2nd email. I prefer 2 hours over 24. That is a waste of a day if it was an important task.

While I basically agree that you did not get very good service, I think you would have had far better luck picking up the phone and calling. I tend not to use concierges much even though I have access to a few for the same reason mentioned - my google skills are pretty good. But when I do use them I always call because it is much easier to clarify the request and dispense with showstopper questions if you have some dialog right off the bat.

that is a valid point. My only excuse for that is I didnt want to be bother talking with that request. I think I have an idea of what I would like them to research next. Should be very simple and hopefully get positive results. I will keep you all updated.

I gave them a task for a tailor. it seems they just googled it (like we all assumed) and gave me a list of a few in one area. one of which I use.

So for task like that it is kind of pointless. I will try to test them for tickets for a hard or sold out event or last minute flowers

I think you are missing the point. If you ask them to do a mundane task they are going to do it mundanely. You asked for a list of nearby tailors and they gave you one competently. That's exactly what you should expect. If you want to be wow-ed you have to ask for something with a wow factor. Of course then you have to be able to pay the bill for it.

I did leave out some detials in what i was looking for, but they said "Since Visa is not directly affiliated with any of these vendors, I can only provide directory assistance in your area."
