What cards with Annual Fees do you have?

Postby PhoenixDown » Sat Dec 07, 2013 1:38 pm

I'm curious what annual fee carrying cards everyone has (and I mean cards you plan to keep more than the introductory free year)?

I have two:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred for the Travel and Restaurant Rewards.
  • Amex Blue Cash Preferred for 6% groceries and 3% gas.

I have four::

  • Wells Fargo Secured
  • BoA 3-2-1 Cash Rewards secured
  • Crap One QuicksilverOne
  • Amex Green

These were the first three cards I got since I've started (re)building my credit + the Amex card which got me in the door with them. My standards since then have changed drastically and I don't think I would be satisfied applying for a card with an annual fee unless the rewards were too good to pass up (I had considered the BCP Amex instead of the BCE, but wasn't sure if I could spend enough in groceries to justify it. The BoA card will probably graduate before the year is up and I've heard it is relatively easy to PC to a no AF card. Wells Fargo... I;m not so sure about. If it doesn't graduate by the 11th month, I may say bye-bye to WF because their unsecured options suck anyway.

It's almost a sure bet I'll cancel the Crap One card before the AF hits again. With the Steps program, I'll have a $750 limit and I may have time to "squeeze in" a CLI request increase before the AF hits. If that increase doesn't take me up to $2000, I will cancel. Even if it does ( which isn;t likely... all their "we're a conservative lender B.S.) I may cancel anyway. Most of my spending is covered by other cards, so the 1.5% in any category isn't extremely appealing anyway.

The Amex green, I'll try to do a PC to the PRG after 13 months...
In my Wallet:
  • Amex PRG NPSL[3-14, bd 91]
  • Sallie Mae MC $8000[1-14]
  • Chase Freedom $4700[1-14]
  • Discover It $2750[8-13]
  • BoA UCF Alumni Cash Rewards $5000 [3-15]
Sometimes in my Wallet:
  • GM BuyPower WEMC $5000[9-14]
  • Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex $7000[4-14]
  • Barclaycard Arrival WEMC $7000[3-14]
  • BoA Better Balance $3000[2-15]
In my sockdrawer: Amex BCE $1000[10-13, bd 91], OCCU Duck $10000 [11-13], The Sportsman's Guide Visa $8000[8-14], Chase Slate $4000 [9-14]Delta Gold Amex $2000 [2-15 bd 91], Diners Club MC $20000 [10-14] Commerce Bank Visa $2000 [3-15] Citi Double Cash $1000 [3-15]
Total CL: $90450

I have the two you have as well as Amex Gold and Amex BSP. And I only got the fee waived for the first year on Gold, the revolvers did not waive the first year and I paid those fees. The CSP did waive for the first year though.

I've had the Cap1 Platinum ($20 after the first year) for almost a year, and will likely be ditching it in about another year. It has been great to help me establish credit, but I'm really looking forward to getting a no AF rewards card when I go from part-time to full-time. I personally really hate the idea of AFs, but at least the one I have is as low as it gets.
