I'm 23 and finishing up my last year and a half of college. I have never had a credit card and I bank with PNC in Michigan.
My EX credit history is 715 because I pay all my tuition out of pocket and have never needed to accept federal student loans. On two separate occasions I was given the loans anyway. I did not want to go into debt so I returned them in full. THis shows up on my EX report as having paid off the entirety of my loans, something in the ballpark area of 5000-6000 dollars. This was reported to EX but not the other two. I just bought a new car, and was able to secure it without a cosigner but I want to build credit incase I need a loan for something in the future.
My question is this: Which card should I apply for? I don't want a student card since I'm almost done with college. But with one good credit score and no credit history according to the other two bureaus, I'm at a loss as to how far I should push my luck when applying for my first credit card? I have worked at the same job for over 6 years now while going to school full time, and I rent my own house, and all bills coming there are in my name.
Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated!
