First card/charge card...a Carte Blanche from the early 70s. Fresh out of college, had a decent job making good money, so I applied...by paper app....and got the card about a month later. Apparently, approvals were more income driven back then, since I had no file at all. It was some sort of promo thing IIRC. Got an AMEX Green Card in 1976. Wish I'd been smarter back then and kept both!
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!

I got a MasterCard issued by a local bank that has since been assimilated. My limit was $500. This was in 1990, right before I went to college. Man, $500 seemed like a crazy amount of money someone would trust me to borrow.

I was a senior in college when I decided it was finally time to get my own credit card. The first card I applied for was the Citi Forward. I applied online and it said they would mail me a decision. So, in the meantime, I walked down the street and got a credit card from my local bank: BB&T. I think the CL was $500? A few days later the acceptance letter and a card from Citi came. CL on that was probably about $2,000.

I cancelled the BB&T two years later because it had little to no rewards program. I still have my beloved Forward; if Citi ever changes its rewards program I will be so sad.
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).
