For those of you who like to apply for new cards on a frequent basis, get the sign-up bonus, use the rewards, and then close the card before the annual fee/next annual fee hits, do you ever find that the trail of short-lived cards has any effect on your ability to get new cards for new bonuses?
By applying for a specialty card (a la an airline card, a hotel card, etc), using it, and canceling it, does it ever keep you from returning for new bonuses in the future? Or does your previous relationship disqualify you from being perceived as a new customer, and therefore you're ineligible for sign-up bonuses?
I know it depends on your personal priorities, but I'd love to hear examples of what's a keeper card (ie, the Sapphire or a particular Amex, despite the AF) vs what's disposable.
Any advice in general?
