US Bank Cash+ Question

Postby jupiter » Wed Oct 02, 2013 7:37 pm

Hi, everyone. So I've been building credit for over a year now, always pay in full, and am starting to look at rewards cards to apply for in maybe February. Before I hadn't really heard of the Cash+ card, but it looks intriguing. My question is, can you choose the same categories 2 or more quarters in a row? How does that work?

I've also gotten mail offers for the BankAmericard Cash Rewards and Discover IT, but not too sure I want either one. I'm not too enticed by Discover's rolling categories, and I could get the same cash back amount on gas that the BofA card offers that the Amazon Chase card does. Really I'm intrigued by the option to pick rewards with the Cash+ card.

Yes you can pick the same categories every quarter if you want to.

When it comes to no AF rewards cards, you can't have too many.

Heres a "demo" of the categories picker:

As Cashback said, you can pick the same categories over and over if you wish.

RewardHop and cashback,

And here I thought the Cash+ card was dead. This talk makes me think I should have it now. Is Cash+ better than the Quicksilver, which is also a Visa Signature card?

I've banked with US Bank for over a decade, though lately, I've only used their accounts as a pass through to pay off credit cards, while the majority of my money stays at other banks.

What is the apply-in-office scenario like?

RewardHop, what do you think of this new Barclaycard?

Worth a shot?
Merrick Bank (Hooters) 4100
Cap One Quicksilver 2800
Discover it 2500
Citi Forward 5400
Chase Freedom 1000
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday 5500
Citi Dividend 5600
Cap One Visa Platinum 750 (CLOSED)

If you want the Quicksilver, call up Capital One and see if they are willing to product change one of your current cards to the Quicksilver. You might have to try a few times. Your limits on your other cards seem a bit low to get a Visa Signature so you may end up getting a Visa Platinum Quicksilver regardless of product change or new application.

I don't know if you can actually get the Cash+ card however. What are your credit scores like?

The Arrival card is only worth it if you travel enough.

I don't know my official scores from myfico, but according to Credit Karma I have a 709 score from TU. I'm actually now wondering why it went down from 715, considering I got a CLI a month ago.
