American Home Credit Card: How To Negotiate a Lower Payment

Postby HunterAngelic » Sun Sep 29, 2013 5:22 pm

New to the forum. I found it through the advice column that recommended to come to this website and ask whether you should keep or cancel your store credit card account(s).

My credit is average. As of 2013 I have 5 open cards total and only 1 is from a retailer. It is the American Home furniture credit card. I opened it in 2009 (+/- a year) when my roommate moved out and I had to buy a new living room set and dining room table. Then last year I ended up using it for another purchase to buy a bedroom set and rug and am still making payments on it. My interest rate is 24.99% and the bank is Comenity?

On my Chase card I was able to negotiate a better APR once when I called. Would it be possible or likely that I could call up Comenity customer service and negotiate a payment amount that’s more reasonable than 24.99%?

The only way to find out is to try.

How do you know it is average? I just ask because everyone tends to assume that they're average on any topic.
