GameStop credit card - error/not working (and application?)

Postby formulazero » Sat Sep 14, 2013 1:13 pm

I had been trying to place an order all morning on GameStop's website and every time I submitted, it would spit back this stupid error message about their card or should I say my card not working or being accepted for some reason.
"Thank you for choosing GameStop.com. The credit card billing information you entered does not match the information on file at your financial institution. Prior to placing a new order, please verify your billing information with your financial institution to ensure all information is accurate and up to date."

Okay whats up with that. My billing info IS correct. I have no moved anytime recently and all of it, zip code and address, full name with middle initial, etc are all correct. I am not dumb GameStop! Yes I can read and verified correctly multiple times before pressing submit.

Second Question: Is there an actual GameStop credit card you can apply for? Like one that is branded with their store? Maybe that will make it easier for online orders and if it had good rewards I would be down for it. Thanks in advance for any replies/help.

I would double check with your credit bureaus and see what they have for your address on file. It's possible that the bureaus have made a typo (happened to my friend before, even though it was something as simple as "ST" vs "AVE").

GameStop has their own in-store card called PowerUp Rewards where you can transfer money in to pay for games, and get discounts for things, rack up points to buy stuff, etc. It's not really credit though, more like a membership loyalty thing.
AMEX BCE ($20,000), Citi Forward ($6,800), Discover IT ($5,250), BoA Travel Rewards ($1,800)

I was a manager of a game stop for a few years, my roommate works there now.
First, from experience, how game-stop runs credits card is really old school. Nothing like how Wal-Mart or target works. Even in the store it will fail out. As a last resort if you have one near you they can order anything online and have it shipped to you. If I remember correctly if the do it in the store, shipping is free.

To your credit card thing, when I left(last December) there was talk. But nothing has or will come out in the near future. Gamestop seems to more focused in becoming the 'Walgreens' of electronics. Rather then just a game store, but a smaller version of Best Buy. Selling Tv's, phones, tablets and computers.
Wells Fargo w/ Points - 6.2k
Discover More - 10k
Citi Forward - 3.7k
Citi Thank You Preferred - 18.5k
AMEX Blue - 16.4k
AMEX PRG- NPSL
Barclay Juniper card/Apple - 9k
GE Capital Amazon Store Card 5k

score
722(7/13) 732(8/13) 734(9/13) 743(2/14) 763(07/14) 798(3/15) 749(4/16)

Good idea. I will check this now. Maybe that I live on a Court instead of a Street could be messing it up.

Nice insider info there! I think that is a bad move for them IMO b/c they will never be able to compete selling TVs and that type of stuff. Everyone goes on Amazon for that or does a price match at Best Buy. GameStop should stick with what they know.

That happen to me before. I called my credit card company to verify how my address is put. Turns out it was a glitch with GameStop website when I emailed them about it.
Just out of curiosity, what game did you buy?
