No biggie, dude, it was a fake Amex anyway. After my own experience with the idiots over at FIA, I see where you're coming from, although I think you overreacted.

You new here? That's what he does. Well, that, and rant that the world isn't giving him a free lunch.

To be clearer: anyone who doesn't ask you for the card number is incompetent, or has made a decision about the costs of fraud I think is foolish. Security verification questions are often from a pretty small set, and many of them have answers that (if you use the real answers) can be gleaned from public information, or guessed at.

About the customer service? Or his repeated over reactions and closures of cards?

I have had a FNBO for five months and have been delighted with CS. The few times I have called them during banking hours central time I have spoken to a mid-western banker who treated me with friendly professional service. Each time I called from a quiet room with my info in front of me. I do not expect to be treated professionally if I don't behave professionally.

My original CI was 5.6K, after reading this thread I called to ask for a CLI to 10k. After a friendly conversation while she confirmed that she was talking to the real me, she said that I was pre-approved for a 2.5K increase without a HP. That was fine with me for now. The service was as good as I get from my CSP and Am-ExPlat.

I intend now to use the card a bit more.

I've had some rude CSR's before. I gotta tell you, this CSR wasn't being rude or failing. I recently had my credit card used for unauthorized charges and I'm so glad that people go out of their way to verify identity when you call to ask ANY question about your account. It could have been someone calling to see how much they could max out your credit card. You just got annoyed because we live in a society and in a time where that "instant gratification" has to happen or we get pissy like toddlers. I'm guilty of it too but stepping back and examining the true reason why you get upset is important. I mean, look, you are on the edge of your freakin' seat waiting for exactly 4 months to go by so you can get an answer about CLI! You had ants in your pants!

I caution people not to get all upset with telephone CSR's when it comes to their identity. They can't ask enough questions in my book and I'll answer all of them. I'm sure if someone did hack into your account you wouldn't be a happy camper.

Honestly, the only thing that was an 'epic FAIL' was your attitude. From what you posted, all she did was ask for your card number. You couldn't have waited a few minutes to get out of your car and retrieve it? Sounds kind of weird calling a financial institution to ask for a CLI while driving home from work - But maybe that's just me
