Will I be approved for a business credit card?

Postby Jetmemphis91 » Mon Aug 19, 2013 9:52 am

I am currently considering opening a small side business. I was wondering if that alone would be eligible for a business credit card? What all is required to apply for a business card or is it just the same as app'ing for a personal card?

You're definitely eligible. You can apply for a business card with your social security number as the TIN.

When I opened a biz bank account recently, I had a taxpayer number from my Secretary of State for my LLC, but I needed a federal EIN. You can get one for free. Then again, I had thought my state-issued ID number would be sufficient, so I ended up applying for my EIN on my phone while sitting at her desk. I couldn't get my number printed out at the end of the session, and the database took about a week and a half to reflect my new number, and the snail-mail letter didn't come for a couple of weeks, either, so that bank account got delayed for what-seemed-like-forever until they refreshed their database...

Long story short, EIN's are free, and it helps to line one up ahead of time. So if you're serious about your side biz, you'll probably want to get one anyways for a separate bank account. If your side biz is extremely small, informal, whatever, your SSN is a TIN that will suffice.

As long as you have an actual business you should be approved for a business credit card. How to build business credit, manage your business credit, and financially grow your business. As long as these things are in order, you should be fine with getting the card.

Yup. Have you looked any any business card apps?
