New Banks

Postby COPE2 » Mon Sep 07, 2009 5:02 am

Back in the day all we had was Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, MBNA, Discover, HSBC, American Express. Now they got all these other new ones. I would like to ask your opinion on these new banks that I've never heard of. Are they owned by someone bigger like Chase or Citibank, or are they completely independent? I am asking this because I used to have this AT&T Universal credit card, and while the card itself doesn't mention it, it is actually owned by Citibank. Does anyone have any info on these newer cards such as Simmons, BBVA, Comercia, Iberia? Thanks.

You can acquire that information by Googling the banks. Start with the About/Home pages. The websites mention their parent company. Google that and eventually you see these may be connected to another company. Also look for the symbol used on the stock market.

Actually there's no many new banks really. If you look closer a lot of them are owned by a big bank. They do it for branding reasons. Like if they wanna issue sub prime credit cards and dont want to tarnish their brand they will start a subsidiary bank to issue it [cough] Orchard Bank [cough] HSBC [clears throat]

Stop talking crap about him!
