What can I buy online for 1c?

Postby agp » Sat Jun 15, 2013 8:53 pm

I just want to charge 1c (or as little as possible) to a few of my credit cards to keep them active... Any recommendations on what items/services/things I could buy for as little $ as possible?

Main Card: Amex Platinum

Honestly I'd be shocked if we could buy ANYTHING for 1 cent anymore. You can't even get a gumball out of a machine for that. I can't remember that last time I saw anything that was a cent. In fact I don't even know why we keep making the penny even using zinc they cost more to produce than they are worth.

You can sometimes find SIM cards on Amazon if you have Prime for 10 to 15 cents.
Like this one:

Amex BCE: 3% grocery, 2% gas
Bank of America Better Balance Rewards MC: $25/quarter bonus
Barclaycard Rewards Visa Signature: 2% gas, groceries, utilities
Capital One Quicksilver Visa Signature: 1.5% everything
Chase Freedom Visa Signature: 5% rotating
Citi Forward Visa: 5% restaurants/fastfood, movie theaters, amazon.com
Discover It: 5% rotating
SallieMae MC: 5% Groceries, Gas, Amazon
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature: 5% electronic stores, restaurants
Sock Drawered: Chase Sapphire, Chase Amazon

The shipping on those will be a lot more though... Maybe I'll just buy an MP3 on Amazon.

That's a gjreat idea. That way every few months I could do that on the Associated cards I have, and keep them open with very little effort on my part, and I'll use the Amazon gift cards no problem there. Man that is smart!

Looks like whatever was linked in Prime eligible, free shipping on 11¢. Amazon gift cards are a good idea. You could go to a store and buy a gift card, I once added 4¢ to a Macy's card to up it to $40 so I could give it as a gift.
American Express Platinum Card
American Express TrueEarnings Card from Costco
Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard

I'm assuming if I buy 500 of these 15 cent things with my Chase Freedom, Chase would probably shut down my account?

I'm not sure why. Though why buy 500 instead of just one, which wouldn't raise any eyebrows?

Well I would just need to buy one to keep some cards active, but I still have the 10+10 deal on my Freedom, so for each 15c I spend, I would get 11UR points.
