It's worth another shot, sometimes it takes more than one try. I had to recon 3 times with Chase to get a Freedom last year good for you!

Yeah, I'd try again. I had to recon with Discover to get approved.

I tried again & was told because of a HSBC charge off & a couple lates on my paid off carloan that I couldn't be approved..I don't even want to apply for any other cards this just ruined my day. Maybe I should just stick with my current cards now & try next year

I'm really sorry about this. I totally understand. I always felt the same when I got declined. It's happened many times, honestly.
It's one inquiry with one company that did not approve you at the current time. When I got a pre-approval from Amex in 2011, I was shocked. I immediately called, the girl on the phone took my info, did the app for me, and said I'm sorry but I can't approve you at this time you'll get the information why not in the mail. Big time let down especially after being "pre-approved". But if you'll notice in my signature I have two Amex cards today.
So, this is a bummer, that's for sure, but you will get nice cards with time if you do things right and I'm sure you will.
Have you considered the Walmart store card or Amazon store card? They are GE backed and grow quickly with good use and PIF and GE has fairly lenient approval criteria. They are a TU puller.
Also potentially consider the BofA secure card 99 dollars for a 500 limit that unsecures after about a year.

Neptune, I know that feeling well to (being declined twice for the BCE, and once for the Freedom.) It left a bad taste in my mouth, even though I tried to recon, Chase explained it really nicely what I needed to do, and in 6 months, I came back, apped, and was approved for the Freedom. I can't say the same thing for any companies, but I think personally you should just wait a few months and maybe ask them what you can possibly do increase your chances. I asked with Chase, and thankfully I was approved the second time around. But I think your baddies are the main thing that are affecting you, and maybe when that is gone from your reports, you can try and see if you get approved. But if I were in your shoes, I'd wouldn't take the denial personally, and try when your reports are in good shape again. Good luck on your path to good credit!

I'm thinking I should add some more money to my secured 5/3 credit card. They said at 6months they can review my account & make it consideration to unsecure & possibly I'm wondering will they give me a higher credit limit than what it originally was with it being secured. When I got the 5/3rd card They pulled my Transunion & they sent me my Myfico score in the mail which was 659 at the time. Transunion website has me at 680 & myfico has me at 674 currently..But if they unsecure that card & give me a higher limit, I'll just garden it for a year. & add an additional secured card from somewhere that unsecure after so long

I'm glad you are back already and in reasonable spirits that's great! You will get things turned around I'm sure! A mere 18 months ago I had no cards at all, and prior to that a Cap One with a 500 limit. So things are looking up. Your score is up 15 points, with another boost like that you'll be knocking on 700 and you should start to see some doors open for you.

I'd highly suggest the Walmart card, and/or Amazon store card (the store card not the Visa). You should realistically have a chance at these. They will grow if you use them and PIF.

Failing that, or in addition to that, try the "Shopping cart trick" at places like Victoria's Secret, and the other online retailers known to do this. Google shopping cart trick for details. Basically it's going to online retailers, putting things in your cart and going to check out and entering your address. Make sure your address is the same as that listed with the credit bureaus. They will soft your TU and may offer you a card for only a soft pull.
