A number of year ago my parents got me a gas card from a local station, I have no clue how they did it, my dad just went in and told them I needed a card and I got one. We had problems at first because the station put my bill in the same envelope with my parent's bill and sent it to them. My parents wanted them to do that because they wanted to know how much gas I was using, so I had to complain several times to get it changed. Now 10 years later I just realized this card has never reported on my credit so I went to their office to see if I could find out why. The deal was, I was an authorized user on my dad's account but I wasn't aware that's how it was set up since the bill came to me. What happened was the account was closed a couple years ago when my dad passed away, but they continued to allow me to use my card. It wasn't until the other day when I stopped in the office that they figured out I was an authorized user on a closed account and they were continuing to allow me to use my card. They told me I would have to stop using my card and apply for my own account.

I thought about another major card since I can't get enough credit anyplace. Part of me just can't wait for the day I can dump Crap1 and USBank, while we might think a $300 CL is better than nothing, it's basically useless.

Get Bank of America's secured card. After one year of responsible use, they will unsecure it. And please, don't co-sign on anybody's car loan without reading what you're signing.

Or co-sign even after reading what you're signing.

FYI: I didn't co-sign any loan, the bank totally screwed up. I filled out a credit application with the bank but that's it. The guy bought a different vehicle other than what was agreed on, it was supposed to go in and sign the papers but I didn't. The bank sent the loan through the realized I didn't sign the papers. In the end, he was able to buy the truck, miss 3 payments, have the truck repoed, sold at auction then I wasn't contacted until maybe a year after he didn't pay his balance due. The bank couldn't even supply my lawyer with a copy of any loan papers because they had zilch. Nobody believes I didn't co-sign the loan, if the bank says it, it's true and you better believe it because a bank never makes mistakes.

My parents actually wanted to go talk to the lawyer and try to explain to him since they always did everything for me and I had no experience doing things for myself, I could have signed the papers without knowing what I was signing. If I really co-signed the loan, then why did the bank wait so long to try to find me and why did they just drop the whole think when my lawyer asked for copies of the papers? What burns me up is the entry "reported as uncollectable by creditor". My lawyer told me if they want to sue me for the money, they have the burden of proof that I owe the money which they failed to prove.

My lawyer said the only problem is now with the credit bureau and getting them to remove the entry which they believe to be correct. Between the time I applied for credit with the bank and the vehicle was repoed, the bank was bought out by a different bank and I think they became a different bank again. Anyhow, my lawyer is going to try to get me a referral to another lawyer who may be able to help.

I still can't get a BofA secured card, I keep getting denied. It looks like I'll need a least another year with the cards I have to get the BofA secured card. I hope they are better than US Bank, US Bank isn't worth jack. I'll take Cap1 any day over them.

US Bank is good if you get one of their top cards like Cash +. They destroyed the rewards on that (and the destruction just keeps coming) but that was one fantastic card while it lasted.
