Luxe, How do you know you have to buy a whole new unit for them to replace the battery? I don't see that on the website. I would actually be interested in buying that.

Luxe, that looks really nice. Especially since I only carry the bare minimum in my wallet. I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for that one. Although $80 to replace a battery is a bit too much.

Hummm that Echo intrigues me and at the same time, scares me as well. I think the biggest thing would be, assuming it's safe of course, if that battery dies or it has some other malfunction, you're screwed without any other cards with you. And if you have to do that, might as well get a wallet that can handle them all, and use that.

Reading their Twitter and Facebook posts they are putting a lot of thought and care into the design of this. Somewhere I read they are considering a lower price for replacement cards since $80-100 every two years is a little pricy. However there are many nice things about the card. It is made from flexible glass (don't ask me how), displays the CVV code with e-ink on the back, and also has a motion sensor that detects a flick you give it when you want to switch cards.

From the few pictures of prototypes, I think it is the coolest card even compared to the CSP and Centurion. Definitely the most useful one for me considering I currently carry debit, prepaid, and gift cards as well. It reminds me of a more customizable version of the Facebook card, which is a Discover card that combines multiple gift cards into one. I think I may have convinced myself into getting a Protean Echo when they're ready, if they have a good replacement plan :ppp

If they have an affordable replacement plan, I'm definitely in. I subscribed to their list, thanks for the info. Yes Member, you might want to carry your primary credit card as well in case it runs out or malfunctions, but you don't need to carry everything. I'd keep all my cards (minus my primary CC and protean card) in a wallet that can handle them all, but I'd keep that at home most of the time if I had this device.

Credit card holder only. It offers 2 sides of slots but as I only have 2 credit cards, drivers license and ATM card, the wallet stays really nice and thin.

It does exist  .
